Membership Benefits

Assist the local people of the region. IMEC works directly with people in developing mountainous regions of the world to improve social, cultural, and environmental problems. Members are invited to visit local families, learn about the Porter Assistance Project or attend weekly slide shows with KEEP (the Kathmandu Environmental Education Project).

Kangri News. Our hardcopy newsletter contains interesting articles on research, culture, trip ideas, and charitable work being conducted in Nepal, Tanzania and other mountain regions of the world. In addition, a classified section will assist those looking for travel partners or guides.

MountainNet. Our monthly online newsletter contains the latest travel, volunteer, and cultural information on Nepal, Tanzania and other mountain regions of the world. The monthly e-mail also serves as a "message board" for our members to communicate with one another.

Use of the Kathmandu and Moshi Clubhouse. IMEC Clubhouses serve as a "home away from home" for IMEC members. Stop in and meet other travelers while you are trekking. The Clubhouses can even reserve a hotel and arrange for airport transportation.

Discounts on books and maps about the region. Visit our online catalog for the best deals on books, maps, and gear. Members save 10% to 20% on all purchases.
